This event is for our 2019 Hillside high school seniors that attend the 5 Syracuse city school district schools (PSLA @Folwer, Corcoran, Henninger, ITC, & Nottingham). There will be approximately 170 seniors attending along with their families, our Hillside staff and many leaders from the community. The event will be held on May 16,2019 at 5pm at the landmark theater in downtown Syracuse. We have this event to celebrate their accomplishments thus far but also to motivate them to keep pushing until graduation in June. Many of our students face obstacles that interfere with their academics and at times find it challenging to persevere, that’s where Hillside steps in. We work with our students year round to help them reach their goal of graduation and overcoming the odds. Each student has a youth Advocate that works one on one with them at their school and outside of school providing support, mentoring, tutoring, employment, post secondary and any other needs and getting through obstacles that may be impending their success. Event: Landmark Theater, 362 South Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13202
Dr. Emad Rahim to serve as keynote speaker at the 2019 Rotary 7150 District Celebration
This year's conference is more of a celebration, but we will still have some education during the morning session on Saturday. Even without as much formal training, you will learn A LOT of Rotary smarts over the course of these two days. The goal of this year's conference celebration is to have a party atmosphere as we celebrate the accomplishments of our clubs over the last year. Come to laugh, sing, see the sights, eat the food and drink the drinks!
Dr. Emad Rahim will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2019 Youth Summit
NBLCA Presents their annual Youth Summit that is open to the community for information on sex education, social media, conflict resolution/mental health, lunch and giveaways.
On Sat April 27 NBLCA will be hosting a youth summit at the Syracuse University STEP program. The summit will serve 75-100 youth ages 12-18. The topics will include sexual responsibility, mental health, anti violence messages and similar topics.
On Thursday, April 25th, YWCA of Syracuse and Onondaga County, Inc. will be presenting our 21st Annual Day of Commitment to Eliminate Racism and Promote Diversity at Marriott Downtown Syracuse. The event is themed “No Hate. No Fear. Creating an Inclusive Community.”
Since its inception, the Day of Commitment has featured the Induction Ceremony of our Academy of Diversity Achievers, which has honored nearly 350 community leaders for spearheading programs that embrace and promote diversity, support opportunities for women’s growth and leadership, and advance the elimination of racism. The Day of Commitment has also been a medium for important diversity training, offering dozens of professional development workshops on multicultural and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives that have benefited nearly 1,000 event participants. With the backing of corporate partners that choose to invest in YWCA’s community-oriented work, the event has evolved into a signature fundraiser that celebrates notable work to end discrimination while equipping participants to launch similar projects themselves.
